Post Doctoral Position

Dear Friends/Colleagues,

I am writing to you to announce (again) as post-doc position here at Drexel SPH, under my supervision and mentorship. It is fully funded for two years, with ample opportunities for expansion of funding to extent this position. Of course, there may be an opportunity for especially well qualified applicants to grow into a faculty position here or elsewhere in metro Philadelphia area.

I currently have in my possession a large amount of data from sociobehavioral studies of sexual risk and STIs among self-identified MSM, as well as data from high risk African-American men (not enrolled as MSM) enrolled though urban general medicine clinics. Additionally, we have a good amount of repeated measures HIV, HCV, and HBV virologic and immunologic data, as well as detailed antiviral treatment data on more than 2000 HIV+ patients followed at least quarterly at the Drexel HIV Partnership Practice clinic. Finally, I am building active collaborations with two large clinics and one agency here in Center City Philadelphia: Drexel’s OB/GYB clinic that serves several thousand mostly poor women of color annually; the 11th Street Corridor Clinic (Drexel-affiliated) that provides general medicine care for approximately 10,000 patients (of all ages, both men and women, and again, mostly African-American and Latino patients); and YHEP (the Youth Health Empowerment Project:
http://www.fight.org/section.php?cat=2&sec=32) that serves many thousand adolescents at very high risk of acquiring HIV annually).

If you know of a recent PhD/ScD graduate or someone who will graduate this fall and who would like to take a next step for focused work, please refer them to me. I am eager to fill this position and get to work on an ever-growing backlog of work! I would be happy to fill this position for Fall 2009, January 1, 2010, or early Spring 2010.

Many thanks,
Seth L. Welles, ScD, PhD
